Deniliquin Rovers B-grade have kept their finals campaign alive with a hard-fought victory over Katandra in Sunday’s semi-final.
The Rovers burst out of the blocks, creating early turnovers and making every gain count on the scoreboard.
Sophie Dudley was unstoppable in the first quarter, pouncing on every loose ball and applying relentless pressure to her speedy opponent.
With Lainey Blake shooting confidently, the Rovers looked in control until Katandra rallied late to draw level at the first break.
In the second quarter, sharp shooting from Brittany Edwards helped steady the ship, while youngster Bae Willis came off the bench to rest some tired legs and added star power to the attacking line.
Phoebe Jefferies was outstanding in the centre, providing a calming influence and steady link through the midcourt.
She was ably supported by Erika Martin in wing defence, who worked tirelessly to disrupt Katandra’s flow.
Katandra continued to press hard, closing the gap in the third quarter, but consistent intercepts from defenders Bell McIlwain and Georgia McCulloch ensured the Rovers maintained the upper hand.
In the final term, Sienna Jenkins found extra energy, driving down the court to keep her team pushing forward.
Holding strong under pressure, the girls lifted again to seal a six-goal victory in a nail-biting contest.
The result was a true testament to the perseverance and self-belief of this team.
With confidence high, the Rovers now turn their attention to the Preliminary Final against Tungamah.
The win also capped off an amazing full-house of Preliminary Finals appearances, with all Rovers teams still alive in the competition.

The U13 Rovers brought their grit and determination to what was a tough semi-final, successfully bringing home the win.
After settling into the court and absorbing the finals atmosphere, the girls were able to win quarters two to four, maintaining their composure and working as a cohesive unit.
They utilised their training focus well, taking valuable lessons from their previous match to continue improving their flow and transition on the court.
Sophie Bulmer’s first game back from injury was one to remember, giving 110 per cent on every pass and play.
Shooters Madison Danckert, Madison Woolston and Isabelle Didcock continued to pop up goal after goal, using skilful positioning to create the best opportunities.
Midcourters Khoa Unwin, Indi Conallin and Isabella Goodear applied strong defensive pressure, often forcing turnovers and held-ball calls.
Circle defenders Lara Reddin and Meg Meharry continue to impress with their chemistry and timing, going for every rebound and shutting down their players.
The girls will continue to work hard this week in the lead-up to their Preliminary Final.
