Following a 34-point loss to the top-of-the-ladder side in Waaia, the Deni Rovers get a chance to rebound this week.
The Rovers made a good start with a five goal to one opening quarter against Waaia at home, but dropped off their level as Waaia chipped away at the lead.
Dookie have returned to the competition this year from the Kyabram and District League in 2018.
They currently sit eighth on the ladder with three wins and four losses, while the Rovers sit in fourth with five wins and one loss.
Senior football coach Alex Hay said while the game against Waaia showed some promising signs, the Rovers’ senior side was unable to implement their game plan effectively for long enough.
“Waaia provided a great test, and I was happy with our team defence in the first half, but we fell away with our ball movement in the third quarter.
“We need to add consistency to games. It takes 120 minutes of football to match it with the best.”
Ahead of this week’s match, Hay said the Power could present a level of challenge which the Rovers will have to be ready for.
“Dookie are a little bit of an unknown.
“They’ve had some mixed results but they have some quality players from the Kyabram District Football League and Goulburn Valley, so they are going to make it another tough challenge this week.”
Junior games of football begin at Dookie from 9.30am, with the fourths' football sides.
The thirds are scheduled for 10.40am, reserves at 12.30pm and the seniors from 2pm.
In netball, the under-11s and under-15s play from 9.30am, under-13s and under-17s from 10.40am, C-reserve and B-grade at 12pm and C-grade and undefeated A-grade side playing at 1.30pm.
