Round three saw the return of Jim Jennings and Peter Harris to The Diggers, both leading and greatly welcomed.
But Echuca took the win on three rinks, leaving RSL with no points to add to their tally.
Rod Reid’s team of Harris, Chris Frampton and Archie Webster drew the dreaded 6th rink.
They had a battle all day, dropping two fives and going down by the biggest margin of 12 shots. After 21 ends, their score was 16-28.
Ron Marchetti skipped Jennings, Ian McKenzie and Miro Peterman to a more pleasing outcome.
They were down until the 20th end, and had clawed their way back to 22-20.
Jennings showed he hasn’t lost his touch, but unfortunately, Echuca stepped up their game to win the last end.
They took a four to win by two shots - 24-22.
Allan Hodges led for John Wilson, Craig Taylor and Niels Hilton in an exciting comeback from 3-16 on the 10th end to finish going down by only five shots.
Echuca were only able to score the shots to The Diggers’ 11 over the second half of the game.
Hilton suffered his first loss as skip, however, losing 14-19.
Overall, the tally was 52-17, with Echuca taking all the points.
This loss leaves The Diggers in fourth spot on the Division 2 ladder.
