The under-11 Demons returned to their home deck on Saturday to take on Tocumwal, in what many feared would be a washout thanks to the week’s unpredictable weather.
But thanks to the late-night efforts of a couple of dedicated dads, getting the covers on Friday night, the wicket was kept dry and ready for play.
Winning the toss, the Young Dees elected to bat and set the tone early, with Tyson and Harry opening strongly.
Runs flowed freely throughout the innings, with Dominic in particularly fine touch - finding the boundary with ease and lifting the scoring rate.
Behind the stumps, Wilbur was rock-solid with the gloves, keeping neatly half the innings and ensuring the bowlers were fully supported.
With a strong total on the board, it was the Dees’ turn with the ball, and captain Harry led from the front.
He produced a sensational spell, claiming a remarkable five wickets and delivering a team hat-trick along the way.
The bowling unit backed him up beautifully, with tight lines, disciplined lengths, and sharp fielding that kept Tocumwal under pressure throughout.
In the end, the Young Demons proved far too strong, running out convincing winners 146-66.
Another fantastic all-round effort from this improving side.
