We are excited to welcome all our returning families, as well as some new members to our family, friendly club.
Ski school runs weekly Friday, starting from 5pm.
All equipment is provided, and our friendly and experienced volunteers will make you feel safe and at ease, while teaching you the skills of water skiing.
We use specialised equipment to help both beginner and experienced skiers.
For the beginners, the seahorse or boom bar is fitted to our beginner boat ROLCO, giving the skier a sense of security as the observer is next to them.
For the more experienced skier, the GILFLITE is our intermediate level boat.
Our volunteers will be able to teach skiers new skills and improve your style of skiing.
Everyone who decides to take part in ski school must be a member of the Deniliquin Boat Club.
You can buy your membership by accessing our website, www.deniboatclub.com.
Once signed up, you can book a suitable time slot for ski school through the website.
We are already seeing kids progress so early in the season.
As an observer and teacher in the beginner boat on Friday evening, I would like to give a special mention to our former skiers Hugo Leech, Harper Moroney and Matilda Bootsman who impressed me with their determination and skill set.
Hugo’s goal is to master the skill of slalom skiing (skiing on one ski) by the end of the season.
Hugo had a go at a deep water one ski start using the boom bar (teaching aid).
This is a challenging skill to learn on water, and the boom is a helpful tool to gain confidence and practice the technique.
Harper Moroney took the training bar off the double skis while using the boom bar.
Harper showed tremendous strength by keeping her skis together and out in front.
Lastly, Matilda Bootsman was given a Subway Sports Award for skiing behind ROLCO on double skis without the training bar, well done.
Ski school is preparing for their Christmas Party on Friday, December 19 and everyone is welcome to attend this social night.
Santa and his Elves will be arriving on water skis and there will be prizes for the best 'festive' dressed.
Keep an eye of our Facebook page ‘Deniliquin Boat Club’ for further information.
