It was ideal conditions for football on Saturday when the Rovers took on Yarroweyah in the Picola and District League competition.

The game started off with plenty of pace and pressure.
Yarroweyah belied their position on the ladder as they moved the ball well early to kick four goals and take a lead of seven points at quarter time.
Youngster Cam Wills kicked Rovers’ first goal and he was soon joined on the goal tally list by another youngster in Harry Way.
Way made his senior debut and converted with his first kick in senior football.
Yarroweyah kicked the first goal of the second quarter and had slipped away to a worrying 16 point lead early in the quarter and an upset appeared to be brewing.
From that point onwards, Rovers dominated the second quarter kicking 6.4 to Yarroweyah’s 1.3 and went into half time four goals up.
Coach Alex Hay kicked two goals at the start of the quarter to launch the Rovers’ revival whilst Harry Turner became a dominant force up forward kicking several goals more in the quarter.
The biggest improvement in the Rovers’ performances this year has been in disposal skills.
This was fully shown in the third quarter when they kicked 9.6, with many pin-point passes to leading forwards creating goal scoring chances.
The five thirds players in Cam Wills, Tyson Willis, Liam East, Connor Didcock and Harry Way continue to impress and have become important cogs in the side.
The last quarter was a continuation with Rovers adding a further 9.4 and only conceding a single goal to Yarroweyah to leave, resulting in a 135 point victory and moving Rovers to sixth position on the ladder.

The leading goalkicker was Harry Turner who kicked six goals from a half forward flank.
Tom Blake led and presented well and kicked four goals despite early inaccuracy.
Youngster Cam Wills demonstrated great promise with four goals and coach Alex Hay kicked three very important goals when the game was in the balance.
Another good team effort with Harry Turner, Alex Hay, Ray Murphy, Brady Trotman and Kaiden Joss all playing great games.
Rovers have the bye this weekend, and will return in round nine against Berrigan.

The Rovers reserves scored their fourth straight win when they overpowered a depleted Yarroweyah outfit.
The first quarter saw the Rovers establish a 48 point lead, and they increased the lead with each quarter of the game running out winners by 134 points.
The side seems to be improving each week with good numbers proving to be a strength.
A number of Rovers players helped fill the Yarroweyah side.
Matt Horne led the goalkicking with four goals, aided by Bailey Caruso, Zack Thompson and Matt Wade who kicked three each.
Better players were Zack Thompson, Alex Rourke, Matt Wade, Daniel Mison, Caleb Weir and Dylan Mills.
