That will be a reality for a group of Deni junior soccer players who will travel to Spain from November 10 to November 19 this year.
The nine-day experience will take place in Valencia, Spain.
The initiative has been organised by Diego Sztejman, head of Strike Force Academy.
It is being run in conjunction with the International Development Academy, which has premier soccer academies in Italy, England, the United States and Spain.
A vital part of the experience is that the young soccer players will attend more than 12 high-quality training sessions.
They will also play four games against Spanish and international opposition at the IDA facilities.
The trip is a fantastic opportunity to experience Spanish soccer pathways while improving and understanding the commitment standards produced at one of Europe’s and the world’s top soccer academies in Valencia first hand.
Sztejman said the schedule would provide plenty of soccer-orientated opportunities.
“The kids will get to live and breathe soccer, and also get to see the sacrifice that is required if they choose to take this pathway,” he said.
“They can sleep at the hotel, and then, around the corner, there will be soccer fields.
“They can brush their teeth, have breakfast, and then go straight to the fields for training.”
Sztejman said the trip would also give a glimpse into what it is like for similarly aged children overseas.
“It will give kids from this small town a chance to open their eyes to the possibilities and the information of what’s out there,” he said.
“It is a chance to be immersed in that foreign language, different mentality and cultural experience.
“They also get the chance to watch higher quality soccer and improve.”
A bit of sightseeing around Valencia will also be included, and an excursion to Real Madrid Football Club’s home stadium in Madrid.
The excursion to the home of perennial Champions League contenders Real Madrid will allow the kids to walk in the footsteps of some of the biggest names in world football like David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ten local soccer players - nine boys and one girl - will take part in the trip.
Each is a member of Strike Force Academy and are players in the Deniliquin District Soccer Club (DDSC).
Some parents will also accompany the group and Sztejman.
The Spain trip opportunity was offered to all DDSC players.
The idea was put to families in January this year, after Sztejman’s son Enzo participated in a soccer camp in Barcelona in December.
The experience closely resembles what Enzo was offered as part of the Barca Academy Clinic.
DDSC President Peter Thompson said he appreciated the work being done to both increase and support a love of soccer in the community.
“What an opportunity for our DDSC kids,” he said.
“A big thanks to Diego and his Strike Force Academy for including us in the initiative with IDA Valencia, and creating awesome ambassadors for our club.”
Prospective participant Aadi Patel said the trip would allow him to delve more into his passion for soccer.
“My favourite players, such as Ronaldo, have set foot on those grounds, and I am going to enjoy this experience in Spain and learn to be independent too,” he said.
Fellow player Daniel Burn thanks those helping to make the trip possible for him.
“It’s a privilege to be part of this experience, and I really appreciate everything my parents are doing to make it happen.”
Sztejman said given the cost of the trip, there will be regular fundraising to support the families wanting their children to have this experience.
“It is not cheap, we’ve got our current numbers based on people who will be able to pay for it without assistance.
“Any financial support we can get would be great.”
Fundraising to date has included a Mother’s Day raffle which raised $2000, to be split evenly between those travelling to Spain.
Some Deniliquin businesses have also generously agreed to help sponsor the trip.
However, the group is still looking for a major sponsor to help with official trip kits and shirts.
