The Rovers’ A-grade netballers have advanced directly to the preliminary final following a decisive victory over Tocumwal.
The match was highly competitive and, at times, physically demanding; nevertheless, Rovers demonstrated consistent control throughout the contest.
Shooters Abbey Wills and Carissa Bulmer performed admirably under pressure, consistently following up their shots, securing rebounds, and capitalising on second-chance opportunities.
Their persistence kept the scoreboard moving and broke down Tocumwal’s defensive efforts.
Across the court, Rovers matched Tocumwal’s physicality with determination and composure, applying relentless defensive pressure and transitioning cleanly into attack.
The result never looked in doubt as Rovers’ consistency and discipline gave them the upper hand.
The win secures the Rovers a well-earned week off before returning for the preliminary final, where they will look to carry their strong form deeper into finals.
B-grade: Rovers 40 def by Katunga 48
Rovers B-grade fought hard but went down to Katunga in their qualifying final on Katunga’s home court.
A slow start saw Rovers chasing the game for the first three quarters, as Katunga settled quickly and built an early lead.
Despite working hard to stay in touch, the Rovers couldn’t quite close the gap until a determined final-quarter fightback reduced the margin to eight goals.
Katunga, however, remained composed under pressure to secure the win.
The loss means Rovers will take the longer path through finals, but they still have a second chance to keep their campaign alive when they meet Katandra at Tungamah on Sunday.
C-grade: Rovers 47 def Tungamah 30.
C-grade played their hearts out in a game they were determined to win from the very first whistle — and what an absolute pearler it was!
You could feel the trust across the court, with every player backing each other, and that unity made all the difference.
It was a warm and fiercely contested match and every single player left absolutely nothing in the tank.
Our mid-courters were outstanding, bringing constant drive, direction and providing strong, consistent options.
The shooters were confident, composed and worked seamlessly together — and the scoreboard reflected that with impressive stats: 80 and 70 per cent!
Down back, our defenders were rock solid. They shut down the opposition's attack, applied relentless pressure on the pass and set the tone early with their positioning and hustle.
A well-earned 17-goal win, built on full-team effort and contribution. A performance to be proud of!
C-reserve: Rovers 36 def Katandra 24.
C-res kicked off their finals campaign in strong fashion, securing a win over Katandra.
There were a few nerves early, as expected.
The first quarter was fairly even, while both teams settled and found their rhythm.
Elly Blake was reliable in goals, shooting confidently and keeping the scoreboard ticking over, while Shanè Bothma delivered a few of her trademark intercepts that lifted the team at key moments.
Although some wayward passes allowed Katandra to stay in touch, the girls kept their composure.
Emma East stepped up with some great rebounds, while Mollie Leetham led the side with her trademark voice and positive on-court direction.
It was a true team effort from start to finish, with every player contributing to the result.
The win earns the girls another week off before they head into the preliminary final.
Under-17s: Rovers 59 def Waaia 25
As expected, Saturday’s match against Waaia was a hard-fought and physically demanding contest.
The girls played some of their best netball of the season, with excellent execution across the court.
Both offence and defence were solid, and the team showed great composure under pressure, consistently turning turnovers into scoring opportunities.
It was a fantastic all-round team effort, with every player contributing beautifully – much to the coaches’ delight.
Under-15s: Rovers 47 def Jerilderie 31.
Full-court defensive pressure was built over the first three quarters, with the girls opening up the lead in the last with some spectacular efforts.
Our shooters worked tirelessly, sinking long shots and rebounding with strength.
The mid-court was incredible, balancing the court and feeding with confidence into the shooters.
Our defensive end pushed hard all game, seeing reward for their effort in the last quarter as more mistakes were made and intercepts aplenty.
Under-13s: Rovers 11 def by Tungamah 17.
While the u13s were unable to have success in their first finals game, the girls take home invaluable experience into their next match.
Quarter-for-quarter, the score remained tight, with only one goal separating the score for most of the match.
Circle defenders Lara Redden and Meg Meharry remained tight on their opponents, working hard to put pressure on and score some held passes.
Mid-courters Indi Conallin, Khoa Unwin, Issy Goodear and Issy Didcock worked well to get the ball down to shooters Madi Danckert and Maddie Woolston, continuing to offer and outpace their defenders up until the last buzzer.
The girls remain committed to improving their composure on the court and have their heads held high for next week’s semi final.
