The ladies ‘medal of medals’ was contested last Thursday and won by Pauline Davis, who also had the best score of the day with a net 70 to win A-grade.
Swainger was also the day’s A-grade winner on Saturday, and runner-up was Ross Taylor net 70.
The B-grade winner was Jen Choice with a sensational round of net 62 from runner-up Carol Hardman, and C-grade winner was Susan Butcher 71 on countback to Prue Chalmers.
As mentioned, in last Thursday’s stroke event Pauline Davis won A-grade on countback to Shandra Simpson, and B-grade winner was Jayne Hood net 71 on countback to Ann Bull.
On Wednesday, the A-grade winner was John Penna with 40 stableford points on countback to Peter Astill, and B-grade winner was in-form Ken Pearce with 41 points on countback to another form golfer in Jayne Hood.
This weekend, the club hosts the Western Riverina District Golf Association Championships. Saturday will be men’s and ladies’ fourball best ball, and Sunday will be men’s and ladies’ stroke.
This is quickly followed by Veterans Week of Golf, which starts with registration from 4pm on Sunday.
It will be followed by fourball best ball on the Monday, with 18 hole stableford on Tuesday and Thursday, including a 36 hole event over both days.
Friday will be stableford for NSW VGA Trophy Day.
Deniliquin Golf Club will host its annual Pro-Am as part of the PGA Legends Tour for the third consecutive year, on Monday, October 27 and Tuesday, October 28.
On the Monday, the PGA Seniors NSW Open Pre-Qualifier is a key event on the PGA Legends Tour, providing professional golfers aged 50 and over with a chance to earn a spot in the prestigious NSW Seniors Open.
In the Pro-Am on the Tuesday, three amateur players team up for a 3-person ambrose competition, while their paired PGA Professional plays a traditional stroke round.
This offers a fun and competitive day on the course for both amateurs and professionals.
This year’s Spring Classic will be played on Saturday and Sunday, November 8 and 9, in the usual fourball best ball format for men and ladies. Entry forms at the pro shop or on the club’s website.
Next Saturday, October 18, is Borella Cup and Rita Barnes Goblet.
On Monday, a contingent of Deniliquin golfers travelled to Numurkah for the second round of the Goulburn Valley Veterans Golf Association Championships.
Ken Pearce had an impressive net 65, but was only able to claim the runners-up prize in C-grade on a day when the scoring was hot. Local golfers who featured in the ball competition were Geoff Corboy, John Penna, Des Ramsey and Russell Begg.
The final round of the GV Vets championships will be played at Mooroopna on Monday November 10.
Friday Night Fun returns tonight after a break for the Ute Muster. Raffle tickets are on sale from 6pm with draws and 7pm, and meals will be available.
