Ted and Oscar win Bradley shield

Ted and Oscar Wren were part of the winning under-13s NSW side yaking out the Bradley Shield.

Ted and Oscar Wren were all smiles on Sunday, as part of the victorious under-13s NSW cricket team that took out the Bradley Shield.

The shield is named after Deni’s own Wayne Bradley, and is awarded to the winner of the NSW vs Victoria clash for the age group.

Victoria batted first on a spicy strip at Barooga’s number 2 oval in the 40/40 over format.

Lenny Power and Nick Oliver were the stand outs for the Vic's with 16 and 21 both retired.

Jobe Hein in the middle order with 15 not out was solid and got the team to 6/92 off their 40.

Best bowlers for NSW were Sam McCleary 2/8 off five overs and Giordan Lukies 2/5 off three.

NSW, in reply, were the victors with 7/99 off their 40.

Landyn Maher, with 17 not out, was solid and Finn Murphy was classy with 26 getting the job done.

Best bowlers for Victoria were Sam Slatterie opening with incredible figures of 1/2 off five, Jobe Hein 2/0 off three and Riley Thompson 1/2 off two.

Ted Wren opened the batting scoring a handy seven runs and bowled three overs 0/8.

His brother Oscar made five runs and bowled one over 0/3.

Under-15s NSW boys runners-up in the Owen Shield.

NSW and Victoria also go head-to-head in an under 15s competition for the Owen Shield, named after the late Tocumwal cricket stalwart Arthur Owen.

NSW batted first at Barooga main, with James Mason and Murphy Stephens putting on 37 for the first wicket.

Mason was out for a well compiled 17.

Stephens followed third wicket down for an innings high 22.

A steady flow of wickets saw NSW bowled out for 84 in the 40th over.

Best bowlers were Jack Opray 2/10 off four and an incredible performance from young Max Thompson with 5/6 off four overs.

In reply Victoria retired both openers Kynan Laursen with a match high 35 not out and Ethan Bovalina 33 not out.

Victoria pulled stumps in the 40th over 4/125 a comprehensive winner.

NSW bowlers tried hard all day with Geordie Teasdale 0/17 off seven and Murphy Stephens 2/4 off three.

Local Charlie McCallum made six runs and bowled three overs 0/8.

Fellow Deni cricketer Hamish Baker made four runs and bowled three overs, with 0/12.
