Cobram coach John Brunskill and his outfit have an almighty task ahead of them in the Murray Football Netball League.

The Tigers must win their next two matches in the final three rounds of the season to feature in finals action following their defeat to Mulwala at the weekend.

In a rematch of last year’s grand final, Mulwala was too strong for the Tigers and ran out to a commanding 15.16 (106) to 4.7 (21) win at Lonsdale Oval.

Cobram was unable to stick with the ladder leader as the Lions produced a stunning 5.6 (36) to zip opening quarter in the round 17 encounter.

The margin extended at each of the following two breaks with Mulwala flexing its muscles and showcasing why it is the clear premiership favourite for this year’s flag.

Despite the heavy defeat, it was still a positive day for the Tigers.

Cobram celebrated the 200th club appearance of gun talent Sam Beasley.

The vice-captain was a standout in his milestone match and was one of the standouts alongside brother Harry.

It was also a momentous day for youngster Thomas Corso.

On their home deck, the Hawks were unable to reel in the Rams once they grabbed a 34-point buffer at the main break.

The lead ballooned out at the final siren and Deniliquin chalked up a 17.11 (113) to 6.7 (43) win.

Brodey Rudd, Jayden Geisler, Ryan Harris and goal-kicking sensation Riley Gow (three) were the top performers for the Hawks.
