The Timbercutters have been beaten by more than 150 points in each of their four contests in 2025, but their defeat against Dookie United in round six had one small silver lining, hitting a new game-high in points.
Mathoura was right in it to start the contest, kicking a pair of early goals and a behind to keep with Dookie which kicked 6.3.
However, that early success halted in the second period with the Timbercutters unable to find any points, while Dookie kept on coming, kicking a further 7.4 to take a 72-point lead at half-time.
Mathoura added another behind to its score in the third term, but it wouldn’t be enough to begin catching Dookie which piled on 9.3 in that time to increase its lead to triple figures.
The Timbercutters were able to find success once more down the stretch, slotting one more through the middle for maximum points to finish its day at 3.2 (20).
Meanwhile, Dookie had another strong quarter of 8.7 to end just shy of 200 points at 30.17 (197).
The 177-point defeat is nothing new for Mathoura, but kicking a few more goals shows encouraging signs for a team attempting to get its 2025 season under way.
It’ll have another chance to go for gold when it faces Tungamah in round seven.

Mathoura added six more in the lead up to half-time, but United took matters into its own hands, tallying 21 in the second period to extend its lead to 26.
The carnage didn't stop after half-time as the Timbercutters could add just five to their total, while Dookie pulled even further ahead with 21 more to the score.
Eyeing a chance to boost its differential, Dookie produced another 21-goal quarter down the stretch to increase its score to 80, while Mathoura finished its day with five more goals to end on 24.
