Rhinos captain Chris Pyle won the toss and elected to bat.
Openers Jonty Tubb and Rowan Frazer got the Rhinos off to a steady start, getting through to drinks after the first 20 overs and putting on 60 runs without the loss of a wicket.
The pair continued after drinks, with Tubb hitting the first boundary of the innings when nearing a team total of 100 and soon reaching a half century himself.
Frazer then also brought up his half century with 10 overs to go.
Two overs later, Frazer departed giving an easy catch to mid-wicket out for 54 with the score just past 130 runs.
Senaka Lakmal then came to the crease, adding some runs before Tubb was dismissed for a well-made 77, caught in the 35th over.
Pyle was next into the middle, and was composed with his middle order hitting.
Lakmal was out a few overs later, looking to go aerial, caught on the boundary for a quick fire 16.
Hamish Baker joined Pyle in the middle with some quality striking and running, taking the Rhinos total to 3/185 off 40 overs.
Pyle finished on 17 not out, while Baker finished unbeaten on seven.
With the ball, the Rhinos started well.
Charlie McCallum got the first wicket, a caught and bowled, well taken while bumping into Steve Baker at short mid-on.
Prem Muppidi then joined in the wickets, getting a catch well taken by Hamish on the boundary at ‘cow corner’.
Hamish was then the next wicket taker, getting the other Katunga opener edging caught by wicketkeeper Tubb for five.
The next two Katunga batsmen put on some runs before Lakmal got the breakthrough with a quick travelling catch taken by McCallum at mid-on.
Hamish then got his second, following the 20 over drinks break, when a simple catch was taken at short cover by Frazer.
Young bowlers Archie Beehag and Darcy Finn then came on to bowl.
Beehag got the next wicket, a skied catch taken by Frazer coming around at short cover.
Pyle brought himself onto bowl with Stephen Marshall, who had umpired most of the Rhinos’ innings along with Muppidi at square leg.
Pyle started his spell with a wicket and got two more in later overs, including a high catch caught by Finn at square leg and a well pulled in caught and bowled.
The last Katunga wicket was a much harder prize, with the Katunga tailenders showing determination not to give their wicket away.
Ultimately, it was Muppidi who got the wicket LBW in the 38th over to have Katunga bowled out for 89 to see the Rhinos get a win by 96 runs.
