Shane Laing’s rink was trailing 2-15 after only eight ends, before being soundly beaten 12 shots to 31.
But the other two combinations stood tall to record an overall win, 66 shots to 57.
Mark Quor, Graham Nisbet, Chris Taylor and Peter ‘Chief’ Chadderton won 25 shots to 15, while Jamie Shields, Carly Crothers, John Flisher and Steve O’Brien were even more convincing when they cruised home, 29 shots to 11.
Division 2 just prevailed in a see-sawing affair against their neighbours at the Deniliquin RSL Bowling Club, eventually claiming a 62-53 victory.
Paul Snare’s side did their best work late to go on to win 23 shots to 14, while Stuart Treble’s rink came from 8-18 down to just fail by three shots.
In stark contrast, the final combination of David Hessel, Andrew Holloway, Terry Taylor and Glenn Thomson led by 10 with only five ends to play, and managed to sneak home from there by three shots.
The road trip to Elmore proved to be a daunting one for Division 3 when they were soundly beaten, 50 shots to 72.
Steven King’s rink lost by 16 shots while Tony Danckert’s crew failed by six.
Tom Todd, along with Lloyd Ritchie, Col Knuckey and Lee Pattinson led 9-2 after the first five ends, but trailed 13-16 with one to play.
They claimed a three on the final end however, and managed to share the spoils for the day.
