Only three goals separated the teams after the first quarter, in what started as a tightly contested match.
However, despite our efforts, Tongala pulled away as the game progressed.
It ended up being one of those days where things just didn’t go our way.
A big thank you to Aysha Mitsch, Phoebe Newman and Zoe Circuitt from under-17s who stepped up to help fill in. Your efforts were greatly appreciated.
We’ll regroup and bounce back next week.
Awards: Aysha Mitsch, Zoe Circuitt, Phoebe Newman.

Another great game for the girls this week.
The fact we were playing the top team and reigning premiers was on everyone's mind going into the game, however it seemed to work in our favour.
It was our cleanest and best game of the season, regardless of the score.
The shooters were on, which allowed us to make the most of the turnovers from our defence.
Lots of rolling subs gave us fresh legs through the mid-court, which was amazing.
Awards: Mia Jenkins, Rose Nevinson, Mel Edwards.
C-reserve: Tongala 60 def Rams 13.
C-reserve faced a big challenge this week, coming up against top-of-the-table Tongala and going down.
We always knew it would be a tough game, and once Tongala built a solid lead, we decided to make the most of it.
With nothing to lose, we threw the bibs around and tested out some very creative on-court combos.
Our mid-courters bravely stepped into defence and shooting roles with plenty of enthusiasm, if not quite the same level of effectiveness.
There were a few impressive plays scattered in there though, highlighting the skills and versatility of our players.
While we didn’t claw back the big goal gap, the team stayed positive and made the most of a tough day out.
Awards: Grace McMahon, Ayla Nganeko, Carla Crossley.
Under-17s: Deni 43 def Tongala 38.
The girls fought hard in Saturday’s game, against a relatively even matched opponent in Tongala.
Scores remained tight throughout, with the Rams turning the ball over numerous times.
Defensive pressure across the full court was impressive by the Rams, with a consistent, solid effort by Alice Circuitt in the defensive ring.
Aysha Mitsch, Ava Marshall and Bella Hillier all provided a solid line of defence across the mid-court.
In attack, Molly Bradley, Georgia Henderson and Shontai O’Callaghan worked tirelessly to feed the ball into our goalers.
Our goaling combination of Phoebe Newman, Zoe Circuitt and Shontai O’Callaghan was almost flawless.
All the girls deserve a mention this week in what was a hard fought team effort.
Awards: Alice Circuitt, Phoebe Newman, Zoe Circuitt.

Under-13s: Tongala 37 def Rams 7.
The girls initially started slow in attack, while the defence end was firing.
They were unable to convert the defensive wins, but the girls regrouped and put in a really solid effort.
The second quarter was particularly strong, with lots of great passages of attacking play and link ups.

Under-11s: Not scored.
It was a tough game against one of the stronger teams in the comp, but the girls held their own with a strong team effort.
There was great movement down the court, and some impressive shooting under pressure.
The defenders worked tirelessly against quick opponents, managing to pick off plenty of passes and turn the ball over when it mattered.
