What an exciting day for the players who made the finals, and congratulations to the winners.
There were some pretty close final games, and it was good to see so many spectators out there.
The committee would like to thank all the volunteers, canteen attendants, referees, team managers, field markers, equipment managers and coordinators for all their efforts this year.
We could not have done it without you.
A-grade:
The final between Victory and Heart was close fought for the entire match.
The Heart combination of Braith Gow and Jess Dover saw many penetrating runs into attack trying to take the lead.
Unfortunately Victory were just to strong on the day, just like they were for the entire regular season, and came out the winners of A-grade.
You fought hard Heart and deserve to be commended. Congratulations Victory.
B-grade:
It was a really close game in the B-grade final between Roar and Mariners.
Roar came into the final under strength, losing one of their best defenders.
However, the score was only 1-0 at half-time to Mariners, with Roar levelling early in the second half.
Roar just ran out of steam in the second half with Mariners getting out to a large lead.
A last minute goal from Finn Bult of Roar demonstrated the determination of his team, even though winning was no longer an option.
It was a great game to watch, and the skill level improvement of all players from the start of the year was impressive. Well done Mariners.
C-grade:
With Mariners being strong all year, they carried this performance into the grand final securing the win over United.
Bailey Busby proved invaluable to Mariners this year, her golden boot scoring the winning goals for Mariners. Great result Mariners.
D-grade:
Glory set a wicked pace with an opening goal within seconds of the game’s start to Luca Sztejman.
There were some great passages where both teams utilised teammates to move the ball.
However, Glory were too strong on the day coming out victors of D-grade for 2022.
Well done.
Luca Sztejman gets out in front chasing after the ball for Glory in the D-grade final.
Roar’s Isaac Tubb is challenged for the ball by Mariners’ Angus Dellwo in B-grade.
B-grade Mariners’ player Jacob Norris runs the ball, under pressure from Roar players.
William Rathbore from United endges out Bailey Busby from Mariners or the ball in C-grade.
Aimee Hood works on her ball skills in the Kangas and Joeys, trailed by Erin O’Mera, Harvey Smith and Willow McMahon.
