Now in its 11th year, the event was just as successful in the Waring Gardens as it has been its in usual home at the Peppin Heritage Centre.
"Council is planning some renovations at the centre and we weren't allowed in there, so we had a pick of the next site which was here," Elders Rural livestock production advisor Errol Horneman said.
A successful day started off with a shearing demonstration with Deniliquin South Public School students watching on, learning the tricks of the trade.
The region's best shearers came together with some young up and coming talent to go blade by blade in the shearing competition.
Before the day got stuck into the big award winners, the crowd was treated to a fashion show which featured local high school students among the models.
The day also included the presentation of the Northern Clip of the year, Elders Riverina Merino Ewe of the Year, Elders Riverina Performance Ram and Ewe of the Year, and to coveted Elders Merino Ram of the Year won by Australian Food & Agriculture for the seventh consecutive year.
"We (Elders Rural Deniliquin) took over the Riverina Merino field days 11 years ago when during the drought they ran into a tough time. They just didn't have the man power to be able to hold the event, so we decided we'd take it on," Mr Horneman said.
"At that stage we decided to bring in the meat sheep as well."
