Locals welcomed back

Locals welcomed the relaxation of lockdown restrictions in both Regional Victoria and NSW over the weekend with Yarrawonga and Mulwala business owners gleefully welcoming back customers.

Regional Victoria’s lockdown was eased from Friday

night with Belmore Street seeing a steady flow of locals from Friday, right throughout the weekend.

Federation Council was one of several local government areas in regional NSW that followed suit easing lockdown restrictions from Saturday night with locals enjoying the sunshine over the weekend and what the eased restrictions had to offer.

Although lockdown measures were reduced, a number of restrictions still stand in both states and there are only eight reasons for residents to cross the border.

Reasons to cross the border include: for necessary goods and services, including medical care and getting a COVID-19 test; Care and compassionate reasons; Work (whether paid or voluntary, including for charitable or religious purposes) or education (including childcare or early childhood services) or permitted education (including permitted childcare and early childhood services); Getting a COVID-19 vaccination; Visiting an intimate partner; Moving house; Driving someone who cannot drive themselves for one of the above reasons; Travelling between places in Victoria where it is easier to travel through NSW.
