Held at the Kyabram P-12 College secondary oval, the event will also serve as the official opening of the group’s newly renovated clubrooms.
Kyabram Little Athletics Committee president Claudia Moore said she hoped to see many past and present members share in the celebrations.
“It would be great to see some past athletes come along because the kids, who are now adults, might not be in contact with those who were in their age group so it will be a good opportunity to catch up with others who competed at the same time they did,” she said.
“It would also be great to have current families come along and have a look at the history of the club and where we’ve come from to where we are today.”
Founded in 1994 when Kyabram boasted a much larger population, the club held up to 25 athletes per age group in its debut year.
Claudia, who joined in that first year as a six-year-old and competed as an athlete for 15 years, said while they don’t have as many kids as back in the day, the club was still going strong.
“Having been involved as an athlete prior to taking over as president it is quite surreal,” she said.
“It was pretty huge back when I was doing it … we would finish at about 8.30pm or 9.30pm on a Friday night by the time we got through all of the age groups.”
The Kyabram Little Athletics 25th anniversary celebration will be held at the Kyabram P-12 College secondary oval on Saturday, March 21 at 5pm.
