Eighteen of the 22 sheep studs participating in this year's Elders Riverina Sheep Expo are expected to contest the coveted Elders Riverina Merino Ram of the Year title.

The event will be held in the heart of Deniliquin's CBD, in the Waring Gardens adjacent the Multi Arts Centre, from 10am tomorrow morning.

Elders Rural livestock production advisor Errol Horneman the 11th annual event will also include Ewe of the Year and Performance Ram and Ewe of the Year.

The winner of the Northern Clip of the Year will also be announced on the day, and there will be plenty of other activities to keep participants and spectators entertained.

"We have much the same format as previous years, starting with the blade shearing competition," Mr Horneman said.

"In addition to the sheep judging there will be stud and industry displays, and the fashion show.

"We will have some onsite catering and we'll provide some seating for people to sit an enjoy a coffee, or they can utilise any of the cafes in the CBD just across the road.

"We encourage everyone to come down and take a look."

The fashion parade catwalk is longer than usual this year, and will weave in and out of the Multi Arts Hall where the Thrive Riverina resilience in women workshop will be held on the same day.

The fashion show is curated by talented local designer Jane Frazer, who recently took out second place at the Fleece to Fashion design competition in the evening wear category.

Among the gowns on display will be her competition design, as well as the pure wool dress by Sam Stohland which won the same category.

"The garments will all worn by local models from Deniliquin High School, Griffith and Jerilderie," Ms Frazer siad.

"The garments celebrate the Australian wool industry and fabric innovation, while also highlighting some of our home-grown talent.

"This year’s fashion show includes 11 looks from Australian Wool Innovation and nine pieces from the Fleece to Fashion design competition. The fashion show includes day wear, sportswear and formal evening wear.

"A few of the designers included in this year’s runway are Stella McCartney, MJ Bale, Country Road, Witchery, Sportscraft, Trenery, Saba, Sam Stolhand, Diana Wei and my own."

The fashion parade will be held about 12.30pm, and the expo itself will run until 4pm.
