Ryan Gleeson, Noel Baxter and Steve Fawns have been re-elected to a four year term to represent the needs of shareholders as the company continues to seek improved water certainty for the region.
Their elections were announced on Friday.
Chairman Phil Snowden said the result recognises the stability and experience the directors bring to the company and will enable the board to keep delivering on its 2025 Strategic Plan.
‘‘The board announced its 2025 Strategic Plan earlier in the year and has been working hard to deliver on its three platforms — efficient and reliable water delivery, improving water security, and attracting investment in the region.
‘‘We’ve been working closely with the relevant ministers, government departments and agencies to achieve this and have made significant in-roads.
‘‘Of particular note is our work with the Murray Darling Basin Authority to secure their use of the Mulwala Canal to deliver river operations water more efficiently downstream, relieving pressure on the Barmah Choke while delivering returns for shareholders.
‘‘The use of our canal is a win for the environment, a win for irrigators and a win for our shareholders.
‘‘Commercial arrangements such as this allow Murray Irrigation to deliver water through products such as our allocation advance, sustainability product and resource distribution.
‘‘Over the past two months, this has helped deliver 90 gigalitres of productive water into our footprint, despite the ongoing zero allocation announcements.
‘‘The board can now continue its work advocating and delivering for shareholders and customers.’’
Mr Fawns, Mr Gleeson and Mr Baxter have been directors since June 2018, when there was a major overhaul of the board.
They are among five shareholder directors which make up the board, with the others being Mr Snowden and Waander Van Beek.
Independent board members include deputy chair Clair Filson, Don Marples and Patrick Largier.
Unsuccessful election candidates were Jon Gatacre and Louis Kelly.
