Director Sam Willis said he hopes to make this the biggest production by the company yet, and anticipates up to 60 cast and crew will be required.
‘‘We want to include more children,’’ he said.
‘‘That is was what we kept in mind when we were looking at all of the different productions we could do and is why we chose You’re History!
‘‘It is fun, educational and I think it will be a great show to bring to our community.
‘‘I think it will also show how we benefit local youth through the creative arts.’’
In You’re History! a nerdy teenager turns a portable classroom into a time machine, and the mischievous detention class is sent hurtling back through history.
They discover vicious vikings, pilates practising pirates, disco happy gladiators, a rapping Romeo and Juliet and the infamous Oedipus on Jerry Springer.
It will be the company’s third production.
‘‘We have a lot more confidence walking into this one than the last two we put on,’’ Mr Willis said.
‘‘While we have not had any big issues, we want to make sure we are extra prepared this time to ensure we can produce a great show; something the cast, crew and community can be proud of.’’
Mr Willis said auditions are open to anyone, but ideally those in the Years 6 to 12 age group.
There are limited roles for adults, but the aim of the company is to support creative and performing arts for youth.
Auditions will be held from 10am to 1pm on November 16 at the Deniliquin RSL Club, where the company is based.
‘‘All you need to bring is a positive attitude; you need to be keen and you will need to prepare a song, with or without a backing track,’’ Mr Willis said.
‘‘You don’t have to be involved with or enrolled in the Deni Theatre Company.
‘‘We just want all community members, particularly our local youth, to come and give it a go and to be involved.’’
