Briony Tai is back in Deni after completing her final work placement for her teaching course at the local high school in Term 4 last year.
She graduated from the University of New South Wales in Sydney last year.
Miss Tai said it was the experience she had during the placement that encouraged her to start her career in Deniliquin.
‘‘I loved it here in Deni when I did my placement,’’ she said.
‘‘Everything about the town and the school was just amazing.
‘‘The community was so welcoming when I was first here, and it has once again welcomed me.
‘‘It’s nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.’’
Miss Tai will teach a variety of subjects, joining the history, geography and English faculties.
‘‘I’ve always wanted to be a teacher and I loved history when I was in high school,’’ she said.
‘‘Teaching history unsupervised last year was a good experience and I look forward to continue my career of education here in Deni.’’
Also joining the Deniliquin High School teaching ranks is Kerri Ryan.
Ms Ryan joins the school after spending two years at St Columba’s Primary School in Berrigan.
‘‘I’ll be teaching as part of the HSIE staff to start off,’’ she said.
‘‘I’ll cover a few subjects like geography as well as business.
‘‘I’ve been teaching for the last 10 years but previously had completed a Bachelor of Commerce.
‘‘I made the change to teaching after completing a graduate diploma at La Trobe in Shepparton.
‘‘I’ve been living in the region for a while now but I look forward to the new opportunity that Deni High School has provided for me.’’
