In the years since, the couple has amassed a team with more than three decades of experience combined in the commercial, residential, rural and fumigation areas of the pest control industry.
They have also added two four-legged employees to the fold — Ben and Alaska, who are the only independent termite detection dogs in the region.
Riverside Pest Management specialises in termite inspections, using the latest in thermal imaging technology, termite detection dogs, pre and post construction termite treatments and all of your general pest control needs.
The last decade has been one of rapid growth for the business, which is licensed to service both NSW and Victoria.
This means they often work not only in Deniliquin and surrounds, but also Finley, Jerilderie, Hay, Tocumwal, Berrigan, Wakool, Barham, Mathoura and Moama in NSW and Echuca, Gunbower, Cohuna, Leitchville, Koondrook, Yarrawonga and Cobram in Victoria.
And Steve and Jess say they have plans to expand further, in to Bendigo and Shepparton, in the near future.
Reflecting on their time in business, the Butchers said they have been proud to always maintain professional service and consultation with their customers in order to give the best results and establish short or long term management solutions.
‘‘The company goal was and still is to provide our clients with professional service using the most up to date techniques, technologies, equipment, and products,’’ Steve said.
‘‘We have always strived to operate our business with an innovative and ethical business culture, which led to the introduction of the region’s only termite detection dogs, Ben and Alaska.
Their expertise is in early termite detection, often before they become visible to the eye or conventional equipment can locate.’’
Growing the business to a level where the business has received fantastic customer feedback and even local and national awards has been an exciting process, Jess added.
‘‘Our first advertising campaign was hand delivered to letterboxes in Deniliquin and Moama by myself, Steve and Steve’s mum Pam,’’ Jess said.
‘‘Our latest ‘Grab your neighbour’ letterbox campaign was delivered by Australia Post to 27,000 letterboxes across the area to kick off the 2021 summer season for general pest treatments.
‘‘We would like to take this opportunity to thank our team for their hard work and their support in helping us to grow the business to what it has become over the 10 years.
‘‘From starting out as a one-man band in a home office and garden shed, we now have a team of six, with five vehicles on the road and an eye-catching shopfront, designed in part by our technician Casey.
‘‘Thank you all for your hard work and help which saw us become finalists in the National Pest Manager of the Year for 2017 and 2021, and in winning the coveted prize in 2018 and 2019, as well as being awarded the Deniliquin Business Chamber’s Small Business of the Year and Business of the Year awards in 2019.
‘‘Most of all we would like to thank our extremely loyal clients who have been with us for many years. We enjoy being able to provide you with our services and to help take care of your homes.
‘‘Our very first clients, Ken and Wendy Pearce, are still using us for their work and are ‘very happy with the service’.’’
