A highly versatile irrigation enterprise

Ideally located about 35km north of Moama, the Laradoc Pty Ltd Thyra aggregation comprises of three holdings - ‘Devonlea’, ‘Fairfield East’ and ‘Fairfield West’.

With fertile red loam soils and a secure water supply via the Moira Private Irrigation District (MPID), the versatile and productive stretch of country has been carefully developed into a high performing grain enterprise.

Consisting of 1000ha, the aggregation features a combination of ultramodern spray coupled with high performing laser levelled flood irrigation, and dryland cropping country with scope for further development. Soil test results will be made available upon request.

The turn key irrigation development on ‘Devonlea’ commenced in 2016 and includes two Bauer lateral move and two Bauer centre pivot irrigators, and 100ML and 45ML equipped storage dams.

Prior to the redevelopment, the aggregation was operated primarily as a livestock breeding, fattening and stud enterprise trading as DD Dohnes Pty Ltd.

With a core breeding flock of 3000 ewes at its peak, the livestock operation was supported by 14 main paddocks with secure stock watering points in pressurised troughs or channel/catchment filled dams.

Extensive building and working improvements are located on ‘Devonlea’ and include a three-bedroom plus office brick veneer home with adjoining garage, secure workshop with concrete, power and security system, multiple machinery and hay sheds, three stand curved raised board shearing shed with adjoining steel yards, seed storage, ample freshwater storage, stock and domestic bore and pressurised trough water system.

Improvements on ‘Fairfield West’ include a set of steel sheep yards having been recently constructed.
