Walk to raise Myeloma Awareness
Echuca-Moama Community Radio has launched its campaign for ‘My Greatest Walk’, a charity event that raises money for myeloma research in Australia.
The walk will be held this Sunday at 10am.
It will start from the radio station’s office and go to East Echuca Recreational Reserve.
The path is roughly 730 metres.
Myeloma is a type of blood cancer that develops from plasma in the bone marrow.
There is currently no cure, but there are treatments that drastically slow down the disease’s spread.
The campaign comes after a former presenter at EMFM lost his battle with myeloma recently.
“We have a couple of staff members and past presenters who have myeloma; unfortunately, one of our own recently passed away due to complications from the disease,” John Vincent, the sponsorship volunteer at EMFM, said.
The ‘My Greatest Walk’ initiative is Australia-wide, with 22 walks on March 3.
If you wish to participate in the walk or donate, you can register at the EMFM website.
