Second Thrive film in works
Filming has started on the Thrive Films and Art’s second short film following the success of its first.
Blind Freedom is set during the Great Depression in Australia.
Filming started on Sunday in various locations across Echuca, including Vic Park and the Aquatic Reserve.
Director and writer Craig Wyhoon collaborates with Thrive Disability Services to offer community members, especially young people, opportunities in the film industry through the Thrive Film and Arts program.
Their first short film, Loki and Me, garnered more than 50 awards both internationally and in Australia, such as Best Australian Film at the International World Film Awards for Winter 2023-24, Best Producer at the 2023 Focus on Ability Short Film Festival, and Best Actor and Best Young Actress at the Los Angeles Cinematography Awards.
Finley do well at Holbrook
Finley High School’s Ag Show Team returned from the Holbrook Wool and Sheep Fair with a number of group and individual awards.
It included some of the most coveted prizes of the competition, including Supreme Exhibit of the Show and the Champion Sheep of the Show, both paraded by Charlotte Rafferty.
Finley High School was also named the Most Successful Poll Dorset Exhibitor and the Most Successful School in the schools’ sheep interbreed competition.
Other group awards included the Best Maintained Team and Interbreed Champion Group of Three.
When it came to individual accomplishments, Charlotte Rafferty received the Champion Handler award and Ted Gain Trophy for the best junior handler. Ryan Bauer was awarded first place for Novice Junior Judging of Meat Sheep.
New CEO for health network
Stewart Gordon will commence in the CEO role at Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network on July 29 following a highly competitive recruitment process.
Mr Gordon, an accomplished senior health executive and qualified lawyer, will join MPHN from Queensland’s Darling Downs West Moreton Primary Health Network where he held the position of executive director, primary care and integration.
Mr Gordon is excited to take on the CEO role and said he is looking forward to working with the team and wider stakeholders to continue MPHN’s work to support primary care providers and improve health outcomes.
The MHPN covers 21 local government areas from Carrathool in the north, to Hilltops in the east, Hay ain the west and down to the Victorian border.
