The event will be held at Deniliquin Golf Club on Friday March 8.
Deputy Mayor Pat Fogarty will be host, with a keynote address from Dr Cockburn and a panel discussion with local women.
In addition to more than 35 years in clinical experience, Dr Cockburn has enjoyed a successful media career, spanning every television network and Australia’s top radio networks, meaning attendees are guaranteed an engaging and empowering presentation from an experienced advocate who has well and truly earned her title of ‘Australia’s Dr Feelgood’.
Dr Cockburn’s strong media profile is complemented by extensive experience in health policy and education, including as a former chair of Family Planning Victoria and board member of the Metropolitan Ambulance Service and Vic Health, as well as a member of the Victorian Government’s Mental Health Reform Council and Sexual Health Taskforce.
Cr Fogarty said she was pleased the Deniliquin event would include a panel discussion with women from across our region who are achieving great things in their lives, personally and professionally.
Mayor Norm Brennan said he was ‘‘looking forward to seeing a strong turnout from both women and men’’.
‘‘With this year’s International Women’s Day celebrations across the world focusing on the theme of ‘Better Balance’, it’s a timely reminder for all of us to reflect on what we are doing to advance the status of women and achieve a more gender-balanced world,’’ he said.
The lunch will be held from noon to 1.30pm with seats strictly limited.
Tickets are $25 each and bookings can be made online at www.eventbrite.com.au or at council’s Customer Service Centre at 180 Cressy St, Deniliquin. The luncheon is being held in partnership between Edward River Council and the Deniliquin Business Chamber.
