There’s been a change at the top in the Deniliquin Menshed committee.
Long serving president John Tonkin and treasure Jim Hetherington have made the decision to step down from their positions after 15 years.
This change has come as both members felt it was time to “allow for new ideas to take responsibility and play a major role in bringing the shed forward”.
Taking effect at last week’s annual general meeting, Graham Bishop was elected to fill the role of chair and Terry O’Conner is treasurer.
Ian Hunter is vice president and pop up shop coordinator, and Ian Roberts is secretary.
“The shed is financially stable, and provides an excellent venue for the older men in the Deniliquin community,” Mr Tonkin said.
“The last year was very rewarding with an income that allowed for expansion of equipment and services to the community.
“The pop up shop in Cressy Street is a great operation having made 34 sales of pre-loved and refurbished items.
“This year 136 jobs have been completed for the community, and 59 jobs for the working members.
“Support has been given to Orana, Deniliquin Children’s Centre, Navorina, Can Assist, Royal Children’s Appeal, and cancer research.”
The Deniliquin Menshed is located on Baraham Road and is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 9am to 4pm.
