Blighty’s tireless defence

Blighty’s A grade defence of Natalie Tremble, Meg Erickson, Lucy Simpson and Alana Coates worked tirelessly all game.

However, the team unfortunately couldn’t capitalise when they got the ball down to attack.

Congratulations to Karla Nicholls on her first A grade game. She stepped onto the court seamlessly playing WD and then WA.

The girls are still working for a win.

Final score, Mathoura 38 to Blighty 27.

B grade had a disappointing loss.

Dora Miaoudis was best on court; she tried hard and never gave up for the whole game.

Anna Druitt and Sarah Cochrane also played well.

The Mathoura girls wanted the win more on the day. Blighty players need to all get to training this week. There is lots to work on if they are going to be up there with the top teams.

Final score, Mathoura 36 to Blighty 24.

C grade had a very physical game in warm conditions. The girls picked up in the last quarter which was unfortunately too late. There was also a great effort from defence.

Final score, Mathoura 46 to Blighty 17.

It was a hard fought game for the C Reserve girls in tough heat conditions.

Lou Hanmer was fabulous in defence, with wonderful shooting from the shooters and some great drives from Stacey Doolan in mid court.

Final score, Mathoura 23 to Blighty 17.

Under 17s players Lillie Harford and Gabby Clarke came out on fire in the goals.

Some ripper intercepts through the court gave the 17s an advantage.

Jasmine Ackers had her first quarter in the goals and didn’t miss.

It was a great game by all nine players.

Final score, Blighty 56 to Mathoura 27.

The Under 15s had another big win in which everyone tried for four quarters.

Eliza Bradford was dominant in the mid-court and got lots of intercepts when moved into defence. Shooters were super accurate again. Still lots of improvements to be made, but another great team game.

Final score, Blighty 47 to Mathoura 19.

The young Under 13s Redeyes fought hard and played a disciplined and skilful game.

Their passes were powerful and their leads were direct. As usual the positive talk and effort stakes were tremendous, which was reflected by the score board.

Final score, Blighty 41 to Mathoura 2.

The minis had a great game playing seven quarters against Mathoura with a fantastic defence. The team welcomed Grace, the newest team member for Blighty Minis. Well done to everyone on great sportsmanship and their improvement every week.
