Deniliquin’s own Brenda Norman was back in the trecherous waters between Ireland and Scotland last night, for her second attemt at the North Channel swim.
Announced yesterday morning, the swim started at 5.30pm yesterday Australian time - after the Pastoral Times went to print.
Norman, who was inducted into the Australian Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame just last week, was unsuccessful in her first attempt on September 23.
She had been swimming for nine hours before deciding to abandon the swim due to channel conditions and swimmer fatigue.
The conditions were the result of Donaghadee being hit by the tail end of Hurricane Lee in the days leading up to the swim.
We’ll bring you an update in this Friday’s edition.
Back to School
That’s right, it is back to school time once again.
The final term of the year got started yesterday, and students should be quickly returning to their regular schooling schedules.
For the graduating Year 12 students however, the classrooms will be traded for testing centres this term.
The HSC timetable begins tomorrow, with all exams across the state completed by November 3.
The DHS school formal has therefore been announced for Friday, November 4.
This can be a stressful time for the students, and we hope they are well-prepared for the exams.
We wish the local Year 12 students - whether they attend school here in Deni or another school - the best of luck on their exams.

Get the list together
As much as we may not want to admit it, the holiday season is quickly approaching.
While it may be too early to break out the bells and put up the tree, we all know how fast time can fly.
With Christmas only 11 weeks away, now might be the perfect time to start considering the gifts you’ll buy for your family and friends.
You could even encourage the kids to write an early letter to Santa, just in case he needs a little extra time to prepare.
It's never too early to start planning for the most wonderful time of the year.
