Characters come alive at Book Week

There was a SandWing and a gecko, Tabby McTat and the clever snail who saved a whale and even a Very Hungry Caterpillar who turned into a beautiful butterfly mid-parade — it could only mean one thing.

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School in Elmore celebrated Book Week on Monday, August 19, with students and teachers dressing as characters from their favourite books. And their costumes did not disappoint.

There was not a Harry Potter in sight. Instead the franchise was represented by Hermione Granger and a Death Eater. They were joined by Ben and his Gangsta Granny, Willy Wonka, Simba the Lion King and even Cathy Freeman.

The children enjoyed activities with their school buddies throughout the day, followed in the afternoon by a performance by children’s entertainers The Blurbs, for which they were joined by students from Elmore Primary School.
