The local fertiliser company has donated a range of its products to the garden for use by its members.
Sales and marketing team members Lucy Howard and Bree Middlemiss said the donation is part of a renewed community focus from the company, which has recently welcomed a new CEO in Michael Kenney-Herbert.
“We’re always happy to support local community groups where we can,” Mrs Howard said.
“We’re also hoping to form more community partnerships.
“For example, we plan to request a meeting with Edward River Council about how we can work together to further enhance the look of our parks and gardens.”
Deniliquin Community Gardens president Ben Harris said Charlie Carp is already utilised by some members at the gardens, and that the recent donation would only enhance their ability to produce more.
He said that would then benefit the community members who purchase their fresh produce from the gardens.
“It means we can grow more food, and healthy food at that,” he said.
“We’re setting up a pumpkin patch at the moment, so the donation will certainly help us with that and in fertilising our fruit trees.
“What we love about Charlie Carp is that is it is produced locally. It’s much better to use a product we know rather than using something that’s shipped in.”
The Deniliquin Community Gardens is located in Whitelock St, Deniliquin - behind the Deniliquin Swim Centre. Members pay a fee to secure a plot in the gardens.
Surplus produce grown by members is available for sale to the public, who can access the gardens whenever members are present and the gates are open.
