Most of those choices would have little or no consequence on our life, but there are some which are life altering.
The house in which I live has reasonably large windows, and occasionally, there is an attention-getting ‘crash’ as a bird collides with the glass.
I have also been at other places when this has happened, but had not really thought much about how common it was.
I don’t know what the statistics are for Australia, but I recently read that there are estimated to be more than a billion bird deaths each year in the USA from birds hitting windows.
There have been several suggested causes, but still a deadly outcome for a wrong decision.
In the book of Proverbs, in the Old Testament (believed to be written by King Solomon), we read of a warning which Solomon must have considered so important that it is included twice.
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.” (Proverbs14:12 and 16:25).
Despite his renowned wisdom, Solomon is remembered for making some very poor choices when he chose to go his own way in life, instead of relying on the wisdom offered to him by God.
Solomon has recorded for us a collection of lessons learned, and a warning against relying on our own poor decision making.
During His tome on Earth, Jesus Christ reminded us of the opportunity to rely on God’s wisdom already revealed to us.
Even better than that, Jesus also offers us the chance of new life and forgiveness for those mistakes and sins which have cut us off from God.
When we choose to trust that forgiveness, we make the best life choice which will last forever.
