Members are collaborating with local childcare providers, schools and child services providers on the Winter Warmers project.
CWA member Hayley Brown said these schools and organisations identify young people in need and what they require, which is fulfilled by the CWA.
“It’s designed to capture those kids in need of help with extra clothes, or other necessary items,” she said.
“It’s for specific items - for example, school uniforms, jumpers and outwear, or even just warm socks.
“Unlike our Kindness Kits program, this is more targeted. It allows our funds to go further, and makes the donations more intentional.”
Ms Brown said the items are being purchased from the CWAs funding bucket, which was boosted recently through an Australia Post grants program.
They were nominated for the $2000 grant by Deniliquin staff Alan and Shelly Jenkin.
The group would also welcome support from the community to expand the program.
The CWA is also looking for local makers who can help create cot blankets for the Deniliquin maternity ward. They can be made from any material, but should be 60cm x 60cm.
