It’s as a university placement to attain my degree in journalism and business.
I have strong ties to the area, having grown up in Finley and living there until 2021.
I still travel back regularly, including this past season to pull on the boots and play football for Finley.
Much of my family are locals too, so the community still feels like home.
I have spent the last few years living in Wollongong and studying my Bachelor of Communication & Media (journalism) and Bachelor of Commerce (sports marketing & management).
I have a great passion for sport, so I am hoping to eventually work in the sports media field.
When the opportunity arose to gain some professional experience in my home town, I jumped at the chance.
I look forward to covering stories in my local area during my time here.
In my first week, I’ve already been given the opportunity to write a wide variety of stories for both newspapers, and am already gaining some really valuable experience.
I finish my week shadowing the team at the Deni Ute Muster today, to see the role of the media behind a huge event.
