The dust (or should that be mud?) has settled on another Deni Ute Muster, which again generated massive positive media coverage for the town.

But not everyone shared the fun and frivolity the festival generates, including one particular social media on the festival and our local community.
It took aim at the town and muster (possibly posted by someone who did not even attend), which generated some firey responses.
We will not be giving the site free exposure by publishing its name, suffice to say its content was less than complementary.
However, passionate Deni local Angelina Huddle was one person who defended her home town.
“Deniliquin is a great country town and community with the fantastic Edward River at our door. Lots of great history to do with our sheep, wool, wheat and cereal crops and rice industry.
“Our fabulous river is used for fishing, swimming, relaxing on the river and skiing. Our local boat club hosts world class water ski competitions.”
While the post described Deniliquin as “a dusty dead zone”, Angelina pointed out: “It’s not a dust bowl, mate! We have magnificent gardens to walk through, a great river walk.
“Lots of people visit from afar! We are a strong community who have a great band of people who work towards making our town a great place to live in and to Visit Deni.
“As for the Deni Ute Muster, it has been going for 27 years since October 1999. And again a fabulous group of volunteers who keep it going as well as local organisations (like the) Business Chamber and Edward River Council, attracting around 20,000 people to our town.
“How’s that for Deniliquin? I would say WE ROCK!”
Not surprisingly, there were many other positive comments, including those who rejected the notion, in defence of the original post, that it was “satire”, and included a view that “it’s a town you have probably never experienced”.
“If you don’t like it then keep on driving, as you don’t pass the test of being good enough to value its worth or its people”. And so say all of us.
