The free community expo was held Wednesday at the Deniliquin RSL Club.
There were 29 stallholders, and about 70 people attended with plenty of positive feedback.
Organiser Cassie Biggs said there were talks on various subjects which were well received.
“We had a great group of stallholders and attendees were pleased with the event overall,” she said.
Lightning Talks from local professionals and Charles Sturt University associate professors were on topics which included: ageing naturally, preventative care for kidney health, the Wellness 2 Age program and recognising coercive control.
Following the talks Mrs Biggs said attendees were able to interact with service providers.
She said the expo was “the first time we’ve staged anything like this for the consumer”, and followed a workforce forum last year.
Mrs Biggs’ experience with the aged care industry was a driving force behind the expo, with support from CSU Three Rivers institute and sponsorship from Deniliquin RSL Club.
She said it provided a chance for seniors to be made aware of available services.
“We’re very well resourced in Deniliquin, but it’s not always obvious what they are. It provided an opportunity for people, particularly the older demographic, to make a connection with a face and a person rather than an email that might be quite generic.
“It’s also a great opportunity to network; the service providers were all networking with each other,” she said.
