That’s been one of the most common catchphrases in the local area this week, as a campaign launched by the Aussie singer/songwriter generates a frenzy across the country.
Tones, who broke on to the international music scene with her debut hit Dance Monkey in 2019, has promised to travel to one lucky Aussie community on February 20 to give a $10-a-ticket concert.
Although, she has hinted she may do extra concerts based on demand.
To be in the running, communities were to create a social media page and generate as much interest as possible.
Quick off the mark, local teenager Dakota Mackenzie set up Deniliquin’s campaign, and she said the support is coming in thick and fast.
She says it’s just the kind of uplifting event the community needs after a shocking end to 2025, referring specifically to the destruction of Deniliquin High School by fire on November 29.
“When I saw the post from Tones And I, I thought this could be a good thing for our community,” Dakota said.
“I had only just graduated from Deniliquin High School at the time of the fire.
“I didn’t believe it at first, and then reality set in. There were posters and walls I had signed (as part of the Year 12 farewell ritual), and so many of my memories were held in those classrooms that were destroyed.
“I have both negative and positive experiences at that school, but it has shaped who I am today.
“I have two siblings due to start school there this year, and others to follow after.
“My mother (Sharyn) was a student there, and it means so much to the community.”
Dakota said getting Tones to Deniliquin would help with community wellbeing, but said it may also be a great event at which to run a side fundraiser to support the DHS P&C’s ongoing campaign.
“We need a boost in the community, and some of Tones and I’s song and lyrics are so inspiring.
“I’ve looked at a few of the pages set up around the country and our numbers are up there, and it’s certainly worth a try.”
At the time of going to print yesterday, the ‘Bring Tones n I to Deni for DHS - 20th Feb’ Facebook page had more than 1000 likes and followers.
Community members are encouraged to like the page and interact with posts to help with the visibility of the Deniliquin campaign.
The singer/songwriter is expected to announce her decision this Sunday.
