The Deniliquin Boat Club will mark its 80th anniversary with a special celebration on Saturday, February 28, from 2pm.
The free event commemorates eight decades of recreation, competition and community life along the Edward River.
Since its establishment, the club has played a vital role in Deniliquin’s social fabric, fostering generations of boating enthusiasts and serving as a gathering place for locals and visitors.
The anniversary event promises to be a memorable occasion, bringing together past and present members, families and supporters to reflect on the club’s history and its ongoing contribution to the region.
On the day there will be skiing displays, food and drinks available, a special ceremony and live music.
In the lead-up to the milestone celebration, the Peppin Heritage Centre has been hosting a special display highlighting the history of the Deniliquin Boat Club and its connection to the river.
The display features photographs, memorabilia and stories that trace the evolution of boating in Deniliquin and the club’s role in shaping local recreational life.
Community members are encouraged to visit the exhibition before it ends on Monday, February 16.
The display offers a valuable opportunity to explore the town’s river heritage and revisit memories that span generations.
Together, the exhibition and anniversary celebration provide a fitting tribute to one of Deniliquin’s longstanding institutions, reinforcing the strong connection between the town, its river and the people who have gathered along its banks for 80 years.
