Edward River Councillors visited the centre last week to meet with John Arthur and Katrina Ives from the Deniliquin Aquatic Community Group, which has recently taken over management of the centre.
During the visit, councillors were given a first-hand look at the work being done to ready the pool for the season ahead.
It was an opportunity to hear directly from the passionate community members now shaping the future of this vital local asset.
Discussions focused on both the opportunities and challenges the group is navigating, including maintenance needs and staffing.
Council noted that increased sun exposure over time has deteriorated some areas of the pool, particularly the paintwork.
Despite this, the pool remains on track to open as scheduled.
The Deniliquin Aquatic Community Group is eagerly anticipating the opening, with swimming lessons already being advertised and a call out for qualified swim instructors and lifeguards to join the team.
Their enthusiasm and commitment to revitalising the centre have been widely praised, and many residents are looking forward to enjoying a safe, active and inclusive summer at the pool.
With strong collaboration between council and the Deniliquin Aquatic Community Group, the Deniliquin Swim Centre is set to make a splash this season.
