Dramatic Club returns to the stage

After having to go into recess due to the COVID pandemic, the Deniliquin Dramatic Club is back.

Members will perform a comedy by New Zealand playwright Devon Williams over four nights, starting this weekend and continuing next weekend.

Old members and new combine to bring a bit of laughter into your life.

Dramatic Club member Tina Pisasale said there is a clear message in this play – don’t underestimate your grandparents!

The Old People Are Revolting! is a mad cap comedy about seniors seeking revenge,” she said.

“The residents of the Sunshine Retirement Village have had enough: when an issue arises that they are not happy about, they decide to take matters into their own hands and prove to the world just how dangerous seniors can be.

“They are fed up with being ignored and relegated to the sidelines of life.”

Bursting with eccentric characters and crazy shenanigans, the play has been a huge audience pleaser when performed elsewhere.

It is described as having plenty of charm, some hearty laughs and includes some great social commentary to think about - such as the position of senior citizens in our society and the media, conflict between the older and the younger generations, and conservative versus radical sensibilities.

The show will be performed over four nights at the Deniliquin RSL Dunlop room, starting tonight. Further shows will be held tomorrow, next Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1.

On each night, doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

Tickets are $20 each, or $15 for seniors and are available for purchase at the RSL reception desk.

Tickets will also be available at the door, but cash only.
