The atmosphere was alive, with the community in good spirits.
Despite worries Easter would be impacted due to fuel costs and concerns, there was still a steady influx of visitors for long-term and short term stays.
They did not want to miss out on all that was on offer in Deni this Easter.
There were several high-quality draw cards as part of the long list of events.
There was the Deniliquin Art Prize exhibition (see page 5 and 6) and Good Friday twilight football and netball (turn to PT Sport), pitting the Deni Rams up against the Finley Cats, before the Easter Art Out Market (page 7) and Australian Pro Rodeo event, the 2026 Deniliquin Rodeo Under The Stars on Saturday night.
The Western Riverina Tennis Championships were held all weekend at the Deniliquin Lawn Tennis courts, and Sunday’s Easter in the Park was again well supported.
Outside the festivities, several people wanted to make the most of the open businesses around the vibrant Deni CBD.
At different times throughout the weekend shops were doing a roaring trade packed to the brim with customers.
There was also the Lion's Market yesterday, among the other enjoyable activities and natural attractions around Deni.
Cafés, pubs and clubs also had various great offerings to keep people satisfied.
Adding to the excitement was a World’s Greatest Shave event at Dahlsen’s Mitre 10, a street stall in the CBD raising money for Deniliquin’s Navorina Nursing Home and the Deniliquin Fire + Rescue brigade’s annual Good Friday appeal fundraiser (see page 3).
Pleasant weather contributed to the success of the weekend, allowing for Easter gatherings and reunions with family and friends, as well as the traditional Easter egg hunts.
Murray River Police District Detective Chief Inspector Jy Brown said while there is always room for improvement on police and safety matters, he said overall the weekend behaviour was satisfactory.
“There were no major incidents, which is always a win,” he said.
