The riverside long-table lunch is set for Friday, March 20 at the Port of Echuca, with entry priced at $175.
The event will begin with cocktails and canapés, followed by four shared courses featuring regional charcuterie, yabbies, Murray cod, local lamb, tomatoes, fruits and cheese.
Each course will be accompanied by wines from the neighbouring Heathcote region, with roaming entertainment and music included.
Oberin Hospitality Group operations manager Tori Oberin said the lunch was being hosted in conjunction with Campaspe Port Enterprises, with corporate sponsors Kagome and Rich Glen Olive Oil.
“We first held a long lunch event when the company had Oscar W's, all those years ago,” she said.
“It was a great way of showcasing what regional food is in Echuca.”
Ms Oberin noted the evolution of regional food recognition in recent decades.
“Twenty-five years ago, regional food was all about areas like Daylesford and to a lesser degree the Surf Coast,” she said.
“The Murray River wasn't necessarily getting the representation that it probably deserved.
“So, 25 years later, we are still here.”
The region now boasts significant food production, including Kagome, with one of the largest tomato-growing areas in the world, and Rich Glen, producing some of the best olive oils in the world.
The Heathcote wine region has also evolved, moving beyond Shiraz to Mediterranean wine varieties that will be showcased at the lunch.
