The Position Statement focuses on key issues critical to the region’s long-term success, including fair water policy, access to quality health services, childcare availability, workforce and migration settings that support local industries, and a balanced approach to renewable energy development.
The document will be shared with all candidates, to ensure the needs, challenges and aspirations of the Edward River community are clearly understood.
Mayor Ashley Hall said the by-election is an important moment for the community to clearly articulate what it expects from its next federal representative.
“This by-election gives our region a real chance to shape the conversation early,” Cr Hall said.
“We know what our community needs to thrive - not just now, but into the future - and this Position Statement puts those priorities clearly on the table for anyone seeking to represent Farrer.”
Cr Hall said council welcomed the prospect of new representation and strong regional advocacy.
“Clear expectations matter when it comes to delivering outcomes for regional communities,” he said.
“By setting out our priorities now, we want to see the issues that matter most to our residents remain front and centre throughout the campaign and well beyond election day.”
By outlining these priorities ahead of the election, council is ensuring the local agenda is visible early and firmly embedded in the by-election campaign.
