What relief then, that in contrast, the message of Christian faith contains a singular, positive focus, regularly referred to as the ‘Good News’.
For example, the Bible says, “This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight” (Rom 1:17).
Genuine concern about being right with God is common to humanity, even if it’s well-hidden under an outward nonchalance or behind the cover of, “but I’m a good person”.
Maybe you can already recognise an inward desire to know things are okay between you and your Creator.
With a guaranteed path to peace with God and peace in your own soul on offer, as well as assurance of a warm welcome into everlasting peace once your life here is ended, why wouldn’t you seek to make this your reality?
The good news is that Jesus said, “I am the way” (John 14:6).
Jesus has the future sorted, on your behalf. Your part is to believe.
Maybe the Good News seems too good to be true; too simple or, conversely, too hard to believe.
You might worry that God surely can’t accept you as you are, or that he’ll demand too much of you in return for the gift of life he offers.
However, Jesus wants you to feel welcome, not worry.
He has already issued the invitation, “Come to me” (Matt 11:28).
Faith is a decision, but it is also a gift from God.
As you seek lasting hope, God responds by gifting you with the faith to find what you’re searching for.
May this be your personal good news story: “Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us” (Rom 5:1).
