An all-female training day was hosted by the Mid-Murray Zone, NSW Rural Fire Service at Deniliquin in honour of International Women’s Day.

The day was aimed at building skills, boosting confidence, and creating lasting connections in a supportive environment.
It provided an opportunity for women in the RFS to strengthen their abilities and deepen their knowledge in a range of vital areas.
Throughout the day, participants took part in a series of hands-on and informative sessions designed to prepare them for the challenges they may face while serving their communities.
Key topics included mental health awareness, vehicle familiarisation, grassland fire response, practical scenarios, and discussions on how to inspire others within their teams and communities.
The training day’s focus was clear: empower women, promote teamwork, and ensure every participant leaves with the knowledge and skills needed to protect their communities effectively.
“This day was about more than just training,” one of the event’s organisers said.
“It was about fostering confidence, building networks, and strengthening our collective ability to respond to fire incidents.
“The event was a huge success, thanks to the commitment and enthusiasm of the participants, as well as the dedicated organisers who made the day possible.”
As the RFS continues to grow and evolve, initiatives like this help to ensure that women have the tools and support to excel in vital emergency service roles.
“A heartfelt thank-you goes to everyone involved in making the All Female Training Day a success,” the co-organiser said.
“With the support and empowerment fostered during the event, these women are now more equipped than ever to protect and serve their communities.
“This day was made possible by the organisation of the Mid-Murray Zone's newly formed ‘Women In Fire Network’.”
