Deniliquin’s University of the Third Age (U3A) will resume classes on Monday, February 9, and is inviting anyone interested in taking part to attend the enrolment day on Tuesday.
U3A is an international movement whose aims are the education and stimulation of mainly retired members of the community — those in their ‘third age’ of life.
Deniliquin U3A is made up of mature aged people who either want to continue learning or being active, or who wish to teach others what they know.
Popular classes returning this year include the walking group, which meets every Monday from 7am to 8am, at the Deniliquin Memorial Park entrance.
Other Monday activities in this term are the Express Yourself writing group, a sing-a-long with Sheila Lea and instruction in iPads and iPhones.
Wednesday’s are packed full of options with a history group, the ukulele group at South West Music (instruments provided), discussion group, the Scattergories and games session, and a separate mahjong session.
Thursdays are about card games, with separate sessions for canasta and 500.
A Friday committee meeting will be held once a month, on the third Friday.
Unless otherwise stated on the timetable, all classes are held at the Deniliquin RSL Club.
To register for the term, head along to the enrolment day at the RSL Club on Tuesday, from 11am to 1pm, in the Gallery Room.
Membership is $30. If paying on the day, it is cash only. Otherwise, speak to members about making an online payment transfer.
