Simone Sheene and Lesley Baker will be participating in the Walk to Fight Cancer fundraiser.
Normally held over 10 days this October, the pair have set a two-day, 50km challenge.
They hope to be joined by a large contingent of locals on the trek.
During the Walk to Fight Cancer, participants aim to cover as much ground as possible through walking.
The primary objective is to generate funds for cancer research, with the proceeds going towards the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation.
Peter MacCallum cares for over 37,000 people dealing with cancer each year, and contributes to research every day.
Simone is taking part in the challenge in honour of her mother Judy, who she lost last year.
With the help of friend Lesley, they are looking to put together a larger group of locals to walk together.
Steve Baker from Steve's Courtsey Car has generously offered two vehicles to support the walkers.
One vehicle will lead the group, while the other will trail behind, ensuring that essential supplies such as water are available to the participants.
They are hoping to have the group of walkers cover 50km in two days.
“It’s something we’re really hoping to get the community involved in,” Simone said.
“Everyone has been affected by cancer in one way or another, so why shouldn’t everyone get involved?”
