Music Explorers is designed for early primary school aged students (five years to seven year-olds).
Starting in term three, the aim is to introduce young children to the fundamentals of music - growing an understanding of music, in a creative and fun group program.
Weekly 45 minute sessions are held during the school term at the Conservatorium at 241 Cressy St, Deniliquin.
The program has been designed and is run by South West Music’s talented multi-instrumental teacher, Christian Ruiz.
He teaches across NSW Southern Riverina, including a primary and secondary schools in Hay, Finley, Barooga and beyond.
The program has also been reviewed and supported by professional registered teacher, Loretta Walker, who is South West Music’s education coordinator.
While the program is being offered at the Conservatorium, it is also adaptable and can easily be delivered in schools.
South West Music general manager Michael Bakrncev said South West Music is excited by the positive musical benefits that many children can get out of the new Music Explorers program.
“We are so delighted to see so many children across different public, independent and home schools and families get excited in the region to participate in this program at the Conservatorium,” he said.
“Early musical fun aims to spark a love of music and curiosity about instruments, potentially leading to further study or instrumental lessons down the track.
“Exploring music is important for children because it supports their brain development, language skills, coordination and emotional growth.
“Through singing, movement and playing instruments, children build confidence, express themselves creatively and learn to work with others.”
There are places available in the Monday afternoon sessions, which run from 3.30pm to 4.15pm at the conservatoruim. Interested families can organise enrolment by emailing admin@swmusic.org.au.
The Thursday afternoon program, also from 3.30pm to 4.15pm, is currently full, but families can be added to a wait list.
The beginner programs are $10 per lesson, which is payable by the term.
